Emanyatta Saturday School

A pilot program created to prepare children of African ancestry to be Warrior Learners and Scholars, to navigate environments that often denigrate their heritage.

Emanyatta, meaning “Warriors Camp” in Maasai language, is a pilot program created to prepare children of African Ancestry to navigate environments that often denigrate their heritage.

Emanyatta's early culturally sensitive and culturally enriching intervention will positively impact students by increasing black students’ understanding of their history and culture to bolster their self-esteem was a primary goal.

Each Saturday, students are presented with African greetings, rituals and lessons learned from special presenters, all of who are of African Ancestry. These role models come from the fields of science, history, education and the arts and are sources of inspiration for the children.

Parents are encouraged to attend all Emanyatta sessions.
