Freedom Reins Equine Therapy

The Freedom Reins Equine Program offers our communities’ children of promise the experience of emotional healing, mentoring, and leadership development with horses.

Every child participating in Freedom Reins will know that they are seen, heard, and loved.

Horse Care offers children of the Village Project the opportunity to create a trustworthy relationship with horses through learning how to diligently care for them in a natural, ranch environment.

Horse Care offers children of the Village Project the opportunity to create a trustworthy relationship with horses through learning how to diligently care for them in a natural, ranch environment. In Horse Care one child is paired with an adult mentor and a horse. The child, adult mentor and horse engage in weekly sessions that are tailored to serve each child’s emotional needs with comfort and joy. Through horse care, children will learn how to feed, clean, brush, hand walk, and build deeper connection through groundwork skills. As they grow in skill and confidence, children 12 years and older that express and demonstrate interest in leadership, will have the opportunity to become a Horse Care Peer Mentor, alongside the adult mentor, with a younger child.
