Counseling and Therapy
Free therapy/counseling remains our primary service offering.
Our agency was founded to provide therapeutic services for individual adults, children and families and couples. Over the years, other programs and services have been added in response to community needs. Yet, free therapy remains our primary service offering.
Our team includes licensed therapists, unlicensed interns seeking licensure hours and Masters students in the final year of their academic programs. All therapists are supervised by the our Clinical Director, who is licensed by the State of California’s Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a therapist and Clinical Supervisor.
What makes our therapy different, and truly effective, is that our approach is informed by our clients’ ethnic identities, cultural backgrounds, heritages and spirituality. We employ strength-based and trauma-informed strategies that take into account the community and social experiences of our clients – whom we call Warriors- which include racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia and other forms of discrimination and oppression.
The strategies we use in therapy serve to highlight the strengths our Warriors possess, which are accessed when they and their therapist jointly develop effective plans for healing. Referred to as Community Defined Evidence Practices (CDEP’s), this approach to therapy allows us to meet our clients/Warriors where they are in order to provide them with the most effective services.
Scheduling Therapy Sessions
Scheduling therapy sessions can be done in person, by telephone, or online. We are located at 1069 Broadway, Seaside, CA 93955. The therapist offices are located on the second floor in Suite 200.
Therapy can be requested by talking to the Front Office personnel who will ask you to fill out a confidential registration form that asks for your contact information and reason for seeking therapy. You can also call the agency at (831) 392-1500 and give the staff member that same information. In either case, the staff will place you with a therapist at the quickest availability.
